These fourteen and fifteen year old girls are inclined to interpret almost anything as a romantic gesture. I almost hesitate to give out high marks to deserving work, knowing how the eyelashes will flutter in response. I once made the mistake of describing a fifth year's work as "showing excellent promise." Later, she dropped my office in her best robes and wanted to know if we could "discuss her promise."

By comparison, red roses would surely be accepted as something on par with a proposal of marriage.

I cannot imagine the torture it must be to teach in that school. If I were there today, I'd have had five or six of them for breakfast.

How do you keep from offering repeated demonstrations of Cruciatus on them? I do entirely see why Carrow fails to refrain.

I very much doubt that any girl ever shows up to Carrow's office in her best robes. No - they scatter like sparrows for him, as they surely would for you. I prefer to ward them off by making it seem that I've got more age-appropriate company to be keeping elsewhere.

Did you see? The girl's written in her journal in attempt to quash the rumours. That's rather a relief, especially as I thought her the type to bask in them for a while. Maybe she thought her parents would see.
